(2011-10-31 06:12:00)
下一個
I think a lot of people failed in two aspects when they described China before 1978: firstly, before 1978, China was a totally planned economy, therefore, you could not compare an planned economy and a market economy strength just by their incomes. At those days ( I lived 14 years in that system), cash income was low, but you did not need to buy a lot of things: free education, health care, rice, distribution in kind, commodities at very low prices. Literally, there were no poor people or rich people. Everyone was taken care of by the collective or government. Robbing and stealing were extremely rare. Secondly, China\'s reform started in 1978, but the system before 1978 laid a very solid foundation for the reform and future development, that is the social capital (compared of India at the same time): literacy level was high, the idea of being equal was deep rooted, there was a well-planned industrial system and highly-united and motivated people.
