美東11月16日，36歲的華裔女性吳弭（Michelle Wu）宣誓就職波士頓市長，成為該市史上首位亞裔女市長，也終結了波士頓200年來由白人男性主導政壇的局麵。全家一同參與就職儀式，吳弭的恩師美國聯邦參議員伊麗莎白·沃倫也到場見證。

現年36歲的吳弭雙親來自台灣，在芝加哥出生長大的她，之後搬到波士頓就讀哈佛大學，受到大學時期的導師、民主黨參議員華倫（Elizabeth Warren）影響、提攜下開展她的政治生涯。

2013年，年僅28歲的吳弭當選波士頓市議員，成為波士頓史上第一位台裔美籍市議員，之後連任4屆議員，2016年當選議會議長，成為波士頓市議會首位有色人種女議長，去年9月正式宣布角逐波市頓市長。

今年9月14日，吳弭民主黨在初選擊敗另3位參選人，成功進入11月2日舉行的決選，最後壓倒性勝選，以28個百分點的得票率差距擊敗對手市議員喬治（Annissa Essaibi George）成功當選為第56任波士頓市長。
