古龍（1938年6月7日－1985年9月21日），本名熊耀華，筆名“古龍”，知名武俠小說家。祖籍江西南昌，幼時曾住過漢口。生肖屬虎，1938年6月7日出生於香港（戶口登記1941年出生，另有1937年出生的說法），1985年9月21日病逝於台灣。
古龍十二三歲時隨父母定居台灣。師院附中（今師大附中）初中部、成功中學（高中）畢業。就讀成功時，父親熊飛（熊鵬聲）因外遇拋棄妻兒，不久，古龍亦離家出走，飽經人情冷暖。淡江英專（即淡江大學前身）肄業後與舞女鄭月霞（莉莉）同居於台北縣瑞芳鎮鄭家，開始從事武俠小說創作，1960年至 1963年是古龍的潛伏階段或試筆階段。在此之前，台灣武壇三劍客臥龍生、諸葛青雲、司馬翎名噪一時，古龍曾替他們代筆。
1964年至1966年發表的《浣花洗劍錄》向日本時代小說取經，另辟武俠蹊徑。《武林外史》奠定古龍武俠小說的“浪子”形象。1967年所寫的《鐵血傳奇》，集武俠、文藝、偵探、推理於一身，係以電影第七號情報員為本。古龍一生創作六十餘部武俠小說，其中《浣花洗劍錄》、《楚留香傳奇》、《多情劍客無情劍》、《絕代雙驕》、《蕭十一郎》、《七種武器》、《陸小鳳傳奇》、《三少爺的劍》、《歡樂英雄》、《白玉老虎》等作品均廣受讀者歡迎。
到了創作後期，他依然不斷求變，多次說“武俠小說到了要變的時候”。他在小說滲入散文和新詩的句法，寫出《天涯．明月．刀》等小說。1979年《英雄無淚》完成後進入“衰退階段”。
古龍嗜酒牛飲，1977年染上肝病，健康逐漸走下坡，1980年在北投吟鬆閣飲宴時遭人砍傷，失血2000cc。輸入帶有肝炎的血液，患上了肝炎[1]。1982年5月，古龍與華視簽了兩年的製作人合約。1985年9月21日因肝硬化引起食道瘤大出血，下午六時撒手人寰，享年48歲。出殯時，友人林清玄在他的棺材裏放了48瓶XO酒陪葬。其中一副挽聯是：“小李飛刀成絕響 人間不見楚留香”。
古龍生前情歸多處，學生時代與舞女鄭月霞同居，後來又迷上舞女葉雪和日本留學生千代子，葉雪是他明媒正娶的的第一任妻子，未幾離婚，育有一子。 1976年又與梅寶珠結婚。1980年創辦寶龍電影公司，未幾又離婚。於秀玲是古龍的最後一個女人，陪伴至古龍病逝。古龍的弟子丁情說：“因為古大俠寂寞，所以他便追求新奇，所以他的婚姻不能長久。古大俠生性是浪子。”
古龍去世後，小說的版權糾紛開始由法院審理。今非婚生之長子鄭小龍和婚生子熊正達（梅寶珠之子）已握手言和。
2005年，台灣淡江大學舉辦第九屆文學與美學國際學術研討會，主題為武俠小說，集中討論古龍的作品。之後林保淳編了一部論文集，由學生書局出版：《傲世鬼才一古龍：古龍與武俠小說國際學術研討會論文集》（ISBN 9571512974 ）。
