Loved, betrayed, turned on, turned off, ... can't help wondering the road ahead. But surely, there will be a shining star.

也談電影 'The Notebook'

Doll says: I watched The Notebook last night. I thought to finish first half part of it but could not stop at all, so I finished it around 2am.

Carpe_Diem says: irresistible, eh?

Doll says: it is a beautiful love story although there are some tragic plots

Carpe_Diem says: how do you like it?

Doll says: I was moved and believe much in love

Carpe_Diem says: you will think about the movie and story for a while, I'm sure.

Doll says: you know, it is an achingly tender story about the enduring power of love, a story of miracles that will stay with you forever. I had to be in tears espcially when watching Allie suddenly remembered who she is and Noah is. Looking at Allie, Noah had such a great happiness blossoming in his face!

Carpe_Diem says: yeah, that is the magic of love. No doubt about that. But it didn't come easy. Think about how many toubles they had gone through from the very beginning, and how many untold stories from the movie.

Doll says: Allie bravely made her own choice on her love, staying with Noah. They went on spending the rest of their lives together. That was an uneasy decision.

Carpe_Diem says: what's your favorite scene?

Doll says: you know which part touched me deeply? In the end, Allie was suffering from Alzheimer's. Noah read their story to her everyday, wishing she can remember him and the time they spent together...
Doll says: They shared the very last moment together holding each other, and they believed it was a miracle leaving the world together.

Carpe_Diem says: Indeed, that's the outcome of true love.

Doll says: And at her last moment, Allie murmured softly, 'Oh, Noah...I've missed you.' Another miracle -- sigh...the greatest of all!

Carpe_Diem says: another scene I liked about is when they had a huge fight at Noah's house around Allie's car... can u recall?

Doll says: Ask yourself what you want.

Carpe_Diem says: Yes, that's the one. Two things I liked about it:

Carpe_Diem says: 1. too many people don't know what they want. And that's the root of many life problems. Noah, although uneducated, knows that diamond truth. He encouraged her, pushed her to find out what she truly wants, instead of what anyone else wants. Very deep and insightful.

Doll says: Totally agree. "Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do YOU want? What do you WANT?"

Doll says: Actually when Noah ask Allie that question, Allie did not know the answer.

Carpe_Diem says: 2. Noah also illustrated how their marriage life will be in a very direct manner. "Well that's what we do, we fight... You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing." But that's the way it is - love is not all about roses and kisses. Inevitably, there will be fights, even huge fights. But as long as two truly love each other, they can get over them and the fights will even make them love each other more.

Doll says: quarrel and fight between them all in their lives but they still love each other. I have to agree with u again...

Carpe_Diem says: that's another reason I love this movie: it's so real and so outspoken, hiding nothing from the audience. Simply put, this is not a "happily ever after" Cydirella style hollywood movie. It unveils the truth of love and marriage -- it's always accompanied by pain. No pain, no gain.

Doll says: I would watch it again.

Carpe_Diem says: I've watched it three times.

Doll says: Noah made Allie know herself clearer and eventually understand what she really wanted.
Doll says: with Noah, Allie is a real and complete woman finally after 7 years waiting and missing

Carpe_Diem says: I have to go now. I have a meeting scheduled at 1:30pm. I enjoyed the discussion, and I'd love to talk to you more about it next time.

Doll says: Life, actually, can be this way, simple but meaningful.
