Missing the Kids

Olivia and Evan went to Granna's last Sunday to spend a couple of weeks at her house for the summer.

It is interesting that when you have the kids around and are busy with your daily routines, it seems there is always so much to do so much to worry about and it makes you wonder the days without the kids must be like "heaven" as you will get to do whatever you want to do and not have to worry about them. True, you do get the chance to do whatever you want to do and things you don't get to do for yourself when the kids are around. However, you don't feel as "happy" as you thought you would be. It is weird. You feel the emptiness in your heart, something is not quite right, something is missing…

Today, Olivia and Evan wished me happy birthday through the video chat. They sang the happy birthday song to me with Daddy and Granna, asked me what kind of special thing I did for myself today and showed me the birthday gifts they made for me – a necklace and a pair of earring which "only took us three hours to make".

I know they are having a blast at the Granna's. But looking at their happy faces on the screen makes me missing them so much!
