退休：不為錢工作

前幾天和朋友在一起，聊到退休以後資產管理，如何最大利益化，怎麽省稅等等。自然就談到了退休的話題，什麽時候退，退了有什麽打算等等。我說暫時沒有退的計劃，因為沒有想好怎麽使用大把的時間。當然可以看外孫。臨時幫忙沒問題，長期不可以，我不喜歡。

兩年前在領英上看到前同事退休了，他比我小，後來知道六八年的。當時兩夫妻同時退，小兒子剛上大學。問他為什麽退，說是太討厭那份工作了。其實那份工作還是我把他拉進去的，差不多十六年前的事了。可是幾周前他又在領英上找我，讓我幫介紹工作。問他為什麽，說是在家太無聊了。早知今日 何必當初呀。

我不計劃退休，當然也沒到年齡。我的計劃是安排自己想做的事情，如果有一天時間不夠用了就退出工作。當我講到我的想法時，朋友說：其實當人們不為錢工作時，就是退休了。意思是有足夠的錢支持自己的生活。我補上一句，保持目前的生活水平。當然不包括供孩子上學。我覺的這個觀點確實有道理。

首先，不為錢工作意味著可以高興幹不高興不幹。這裏指的是工作中一些不開心的事。第二不用察言觀色，討好別人。當然我的性格從來都不會的。第三不會整天想著升職加薪了，獎金評估了之類的事。總之就是高興來高興去。

至於退休生活一千個人有一千種過活，適合自己的就是最好的。

I found out most of the retired teachers that like their jobs don't want to retire. They either teach at community colleges or stay at public schools part time. I like teaching too. It's one of the best things I can do. I'm particularly interested in teaching mid grade math and social studies. Teaching history is one of my passions, such as Pharaohs, plagues and polio vaccine.
Besides that, I've found out there are many free activities at the senior center next to us. Even though I'm not even 50 years old yet I'd like to go check it out. It's summer time, my school is closed so I have plenty of time to hang out.
They have bridges, mahjongg, billiards, quilting, crafting, sewing, gardening, all these things that I'd like to try my hand on. The age requirement is 55+ but because it's all free I don't think they'd kick me out.
There you go, seniors could have meaningful things to do too. Life is good here, as a senior citizen. I'm looking forward to it. The only thing I don't like as a woman would be menopause and the loss of the female hormones. As soon as you hit menopause, aging gets expedited. And old age starts showing. All these people I know in their mid 50s look 15 to 20 years older than me. It's a bit scary.
