We have to trace back to when China had power. China was powerless since 1840 the Opium War. China was invaded in 1840 the Opium War that British annexed Hong Kong, was invaded again in 1856 the Second Opium War that French annexed Vietnam and Russia annexed Siberia, invaded by Japan in 1874 that annexed Ryukyu Islands， invaded by Japan in 1895 that annexed Korea and Taiwan, Invaded by German in 1897 that annexed Jiaodong Peninsula, invaded by Eight-Nation Alliance that Russia annexed Manchuria. During WWI, China was part of the Alliance. China sent laborers to help allies fighting the Germans. Germany was supposed to return the Jiaodong Peninsula to China as it was defeated in WWI, however, Western Powers let Japan take the Jiaodong Peninsula. That was a humiliation. That was the Century of Humiliation. Japan invaded China in 1931 and annexed the Northeast Three Provinces. Japan invaded China in 1937 and occupied the Eastern half of China. The powers not only annexed China but also imposed a huge amount of war reparations. The custom of China was managed by the Western powers to collect the war reparations from the Opium War until 1949. China was poor as the wealth outflow continued and increased, as the Western powers could always invade and claim war reparations time and again. The people of China were also weak by the opium epidemic.

With such a poor and weak China, can anyone imagine China defeating an alliance of 16 countries led by the top power of America, which just won victories over Germany and Japan during WWII? That’s what happened in the Korean War that China drove the American Army from the Yalu River to the 38th Parallel.

Being so weak and poor in the ruin of the Century of Humiliation, how happen that China could suddenly stand up against America in the Korean War? What made China so powerful? It was because of Mao. China has power because of Mao. This is the answer.

In short, since China had Mao, America never won against China. America can win by cooperating with China. America won the Cold War because it was with China.
