最近開始研究美國大學申請的一些事宜了。 


SAT: Scholastic Assessment Test.
The SAT is the nation's most widely used college admission exam. It is owned, published, and developed by the College Board,a nonprofitorganization in the United States.

SAT consists of three major sections:

  • Critical Reading 
  • Mathematics
  • Writing
Each section receives a score on the scale of 200–800. Total score is 2400.

There are usually 7 SAT dates per year (January, March,May, June, October, November, December). you can find upcoming SAT test dates Here
When to take the test? "Most students take the SAT during their junior or senior year in high school. At least half of all students take the SAT twice — in the spring of their junior year and in the fall of their senior year. Most students also improve their score the second time around."

PSAT/NMSQT :

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It help prepare for the SAT. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs (grade 11) and gain access to college and career planning tools.

The PSAT/NMSQT measures:
• Critical reading skills
• Math problem-solving skills
• Writing skills

PSAT/NMSQT scores are reported on a scale of 20 to 80. The total score is 240.

Registration & Dates(twice a year in october):

• It is offered twice a year in october. 2013: Wednesday, October 16 and Saturday, October 19
• "You must sign up for the PSAT/NMSQT at your high school or at another high school in your community. This test is administered by high schools, not through test centers.
If you would like to take the PSAT/NMSQT, contact your high school counselor or principal to find out about registering for the test, paying the test fees($14), and learning the correct date, time, and location that your school will give the test in October. Also, contact your guidance office for a copy of the Official Student Guide to the PSAT/NMSQT to help you prepare before test day." ( from collegeboard)

SAT II: SAT Subject Tests

Students take the SAT Subject Tests to demonstrate to colleges their mastery of specific subjects such as English, history, mathematics, science, and foreign languages.

These subject include:

  • English: Literature
  • History and Social Studies: US History, World History
  • Mathematics: Mathematics Level 1/Mathematics Level 2
  • Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  • Languages: Chinese, French, German, Modern Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Spanish

• SAT Subject Tests are offered 6 times per year in October, November, December, January, May and June .The test date can be found  Here

• Each subject has a maximum score of an 800. Each takes one hour.
•Students can take one, two, or three tests on a single test date
AP Courses :

The Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States created by the College Board offering college-level curriculum and examinations to high school students.
  • AP Exams are offered once a year in May
  • AP tests are scored on a 1 to 5 scale
