“The suspense is killer!” proclaims Peter Travers of Rolling Stone in this fast-paced pulse-pounding epic of the potential last days of the human race. Former United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) is called upon to help stop the chaotic pandemic that has gripped populations around the world. Lane fights to keep his family safe while searching for an answer to the outbreak before it destroys all of civilization. David Denby of The New Yorker calls World War Z the “most gratifying action spectacle in years!”
I was really looking forward to this movie after the book. At first I was very disappointed as it didn't follow the book in a way I had hoped but it grew on me over time. I just consider it a decent zombie movie and maybe someday they will redo the book version properly(the journalist travelling around the world AFTER the zombie invasion was done, the organization of humanity into fighting squads using psychology to determine their maximum fighting time. Just one massive effort by humanity, not one person). Last but not least, I still cannot stand how the mother was written with the "but honey, what about ME, saving humanity can wait" attitude was extremely grating on the nerves. It iIn retrospect, after the clot shot, it is interesting this movie was about a life-saving vaccine(that camouflaged them from the zombies) rather than humanity fighting back(with weapons) as it was in the book. Don't stand up for yourselves, let our institutions save you and for pete's sake do not band together to take on any threats. Yeah, I don't care for that type of messaging though entertaining if you turn off your brain enough.
Oddly telling how the line "we don't have room for any non-essential personnel," is muttered in a movie in 2013. Then years later at the onset of covid the term "essential personnel" became part of the common vernacular.
Was really looking forward to the sequel and can't believe Paramount pulled the plug on it due to budgeting issues. World War Z was a commercial success, grossing over $540 million against a production budget of $190 million, making it the highest-grossing zombie film of all time. Who the heck is in charge over at the studio?
I wish the whole movie was just Brad trying to choose one vial from the box, while the camera stares and the suit screeches impatiently. And he's just there like ugh
REALITY CHECK!Although the audience all knows by now (25:45) that despite how highly infectious this disease is, it is not airborne and apparently getting a little bit of blood in your mouth is not enough to transmit it, in real life the authorities would immediately scrub down any survivors brought onboard and place them in quarantine for a few hours, if not days, and maybe there would ve friendly hugs later.27:33
23:15 One of several places where the film has been cut down with scenes edited out. This one, I can only guess, is because YouTube doesn't want people to see a kid with a gun. They probably want to perpetuate the nonsense idea that if a kid ever touches a gun it would mean instant death for them. So of course they can't let people see a kid using a gun properly and effectively. I love this movie, but YouTube has cut out way too much out of it.
Thank you YouTube, I greatly appreciate that you continue to make a good selection of movies like World War Z, available to watch, for free. Here's my suggestion for some possible free supernatural, sci-fi and etc. movies in the future, even if just for a limited time: Antebellum, A Quiet Place, The Meg, The Dark and Wicked, It Follows, Let Us Prey, The Possession of Michael King, The Witch, Lucy, He Never Died, I Am Legend and Constantine. I Movies on YouTube.
Shoutout to the guy who decided to put this here for free. Also one of the best zombie movies even with its flaws just because of the realistic zombie running speed
I've seen this many times. One of the best Zombie movies imo. This is a complete horror/thriller. The story and the suspense puts you on the edge of your seat. I'm disappointed they did not make a sequel.
This movie seems to have a hidden message. Women have the power. Seems like they’re the ones taking a lot of initiatives even if it get them in trouble lol.
Every single terrible modern zombie cliche in one movie. Constant shrieking of little girls for cheap emotional manipulation, silence/JUMP SCARES!!!, delerium tremens camera, countless innocent deaths that you forget a minute later, CGI POV car crashes that do nothing but move the actors to a new set, zombies that don't look or move with any realism whatsoever... this one has it all. It's free though, so I'm still watching it, thank you kindly YouTube
