The Da Vinci Code: The True Story (Discovery Channel)
Published on Mar 15, 2013
Great Documentary, loaded with facts and brings a good balance to Dan Browns Fiction as well as the controversial "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" work that seems to have been mislabeled in the non-fiction category. Check out my other videos if your interested in symbolism, ancient histories and lost history, archeo-astronomy, archaeology, and ancient languages.

Well, I find the mystery of Rosslyn Chapel's stone carving more interesting than Dan Browns fiction. Cant believe that Rosslyn's boxes are a musical score carved out in stone Cymatic patterns. Cymatics, the study of visible sound, the imprint of the sound it makes. That's genius! Nice proof that Church & Science has been in harmony on this part of history.

As someone who doesn't even believe that Jesus existed as a historical person I don't exactly have a dog in this fight, BUT: they did ignore the part of the Da Vinci Code where they point out that a man of Jesus's age would have been married and if they weren't then they would outright mention that he wasn't married :P I do not know if that is true or not, I just know they did not address it in this movie :P

+Agnes Mina Or: it never happened anyway, and is really added later to the general myth as part of Jesus' spiritual c.v. I think the story is in Matthew, and that book is obsessed with a) making Jesus mystically knowledgeable about religious law and lore and b) having him "fulfill the prophecies" at every possible opportunity. (I'm not a Xtian, by the way, just someone intrigued by mythologies, and how they shape worldviews.)

why isn't Johns head on the table in the last supper? if its the way they say then its mirrored from all the rest of the paintings they show in that segment and no one is on the viewer's side of the table like in the older versions... (judas)

What an annoying documentary. It has some good points and interesting info, such as the question of da Vinci's possible dyslexia, but often they have nothing to do with the theory in the book. And it's clearly trying to disparage the novel by any means possible -- often by raising disparate, over-reached arguments that are incredibly weak and far-fetched -- the word "cavilling" comes to mind. They're arguments for the sake of arguing. So many of the arguments against Brown's book are way overstated, which really only shows what clever marketing the book had, and the how canny was the choice of subject matter in the first place. It touches on a lot of sore points and insecurities, but I don't think it was ever intended to be read as genuine alternative history. Brown simply cadged a lot of other people's ideas (and I'm still a bit shocked that Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln lost their plagiarism case) and span them together into a melodramatic pot-boiler. It's just a novel. But it cleverly touches on some issues that obviously have some very deep roots. I watched this for the same reason I occasionally watch "Ancient Aliens" TV shows -- purely for the footage of sites I'd love to get to visit.

I think it would have been cool if Jesus had a bloodline. If there was nothing wrong with making a virgin pregnant, then God having a wife and family should be perfectly natural. I don't see why it would make God less of a deity if he participated in human relationships.

Come on Europeans. Even if you want to show that jesus was married then people carrying his bloodline should be situated in middle east rather than europe. And jesus was not some white guy which you keep on depicting in your movies. You should use middle-eastern looking actor to depict jesus.

They could have even got converted into muslims or remained jews. It can't even be proved that they are Christians.

Great documentary. An observation: when the narrator says that the Gospel of Philip doesn't tell us anything about Jesus, but about what some early Christians believed about him.... the same applies to the four 'canonical' gospels. They are records of the beliefs of early Christians.

This show seems made by blood drinkers...! This video is incorrect in many ways...! How many super hero saviors are there born of a virgin? Unless the Holy Spirit opens your heart and leads you the believe, you will never know God. We Christians remain in God's love and truth, and that gives our lives hope, joy and truth, things not of this world and are not bound by the realms of earthly opinions. The one true way you will believe in Jesus and God is if the Holy Spirit is upon you. If God has not chosen you, then perhaps you can petition to God for the holy spirit. If not, do not incur his wrath by denouncing him as false. Those who hear, let him hear. Those who don't, won't. God gave us this chance to live just to prove how we will hold our faith on him.

Dan Brown's writing skills are truly laudable. The way he wrote on the subject drew the entire world into exploring the aspect whether against or for. Though there have been several books on the subject since decades and may be centuries, never before the subject received so much exposure
