To My Dear Cat

To my first pet of my childhood
Your were my bedside companion
  during my recovery from measles
next thing you knew
We moved to the college town
on the train you cried
  refusing food and water
  for two days straight
You went off quite often
Not sure you tried to escape from the strange
  or to explore and find the familiar in the woods
You left me behind
  when it was only time I left after we had moved
You must not want to see me crying
  As my Mom put it

Near our old home where my parent no longer lives in
You will be always close to sea
  listening from the other side
Right where I like to stay after
  with you
