秒殺所有段子手的王爾德

1881年，王爾德坐船橫跨大洋來到美利堅，進關的時候傲然地對海關官員翻了個白眼說：“我沒有什麽可以申報的，除了我的才華。” (I have nothing to declare except my genius.)

當然這隻是一段野史，王爾德到底是不是說過這句話如今已很難考證。但即便是偽造，這句話也完全符合王爾德的身份、性格和氣質，因為王爾德就是這麽一個恃才傲物又舌燦如蓮花的毒舌天才。

有人說毒舌分兩種，有些人毒舌是因為自己不爽，還有些人毒舌是為了讓自己爽。張愛玲是第一種人，而王爾德就是第二種人。

在他短短46年的傳奇人生裏，王爾德留下了無數驚世駭俗又逼格甚高的妙句，其中不少是他作品中人物的話。如果他活在今天，就算他沒有寫過那些才華橫溢的童話、小說和劇本，光靠每天發發微博，也一定能成為千萬粉絲的大V。以他的毒舌和反雞湯的功力，幹掉十個陸琪級的雞湯導師，應該不成問題。

 

他嘲諷一切。他嘲諷他的敵人，“要原諒你的敵人，沒有什麽事比這更讓他們抓狂的了。” (Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.)

他也嘲諷他的朋友。“我不想去天堂，我的朋友都不在那裏。” (I don't want to go to heaven. None of my friends are there.)

他嘲諷平庸的人，幾乎不給人留任何活路。他說，“努力不過是無事可做的人的避難所。” (Hard work is simply the refuge of people who have nothing to do.)

他說，“隻有無聊的人才會把早餐吃出花樣來。” (Only dull people are brilliant at breakfast).

他說，”隻有淺薄的人才了解自己。” (Only the shallow know themselves.)

他還說，“糟糕的畫家總是欣賞彼此的作品。” (Bad artists always admire each other's work.)

但是他同樣不喜歡優秀的人。“一個優秀的人沒有敵人，但他的朋友也沒有一個喜歡他。” (An excellent man; he has no enemies; and none of his friends like him.)

 

他嘲諷悲觀主義者。“借錢就要向悲觀主義者借，因為他們不會期待你還錢。” (Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect it back.)

他嘲諷好為人師的人。“對於建議，你所能做的，就是把它轉送給別人，建議從來就不是給自己準備的。” (The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself.)

他嘲諷時尚，這句話即使放在今天，也是又尖銳又時髦：“時尚總是醜得難以容忍，所以每隔六個月我們都隻好改一次。” (Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.)

如今段子手們還在玩的梗，他100多年前就用過了。“我年輕時以為金錢是世界上最重要的東西，等到老了才知道，原來真的是這樣。” (When I was young, I used to think that money was the most important thing in life, now that I am old, I know it is.)

 

他嘲諷美國人。“美國是唯一一個直接從野蠻進入頹廢、中間沒有經過文明階段的社會。” (America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.)

他也嘲諷他的同胞。“我們愛爾蘭人太詩意以至不能做詩人，我們的國家裏充滿才華橫溢的失敗者，可我們是自希臘人以來最會說空話的民族。” (We Irish are too poetical to be poets; we are a nation of brilliant failures, but we are the greatest talkers since the Greeks.) 那時愛爾蘭還屬於英國。

他看不起和他同時代的人，他說：“死亡和庸俗是十九世紀僅有的無法用巧辯逃避的東西。” (Death and vulgarity are the only two facts in the nineteenth century that one cannot explain away.) 他問：“為什麽我會和這樣一些人生活在同一個時代？” (Why was I born with such contemporaries?)

他也看不起庸俗的大眾。“公眾驚人地寬容。他們可以原諒一切，除了天才。” (The public is wonderfully tolerant. It forgives everything except genius.)

他不相信愛情。他說，“人生就是一件蠢事追著另一件蠢事而來，而愛情則是兩個蠢東西追來追去。” (Life is one fool thing after another whereas love is two fool things after each other.)

他也不相信婚姻。

1、離婚的主要原因是什麽？結婚。

What is the chief cause of divorce? Marriage.

2、 結婚是想象戰勝了理智，再婚是希望戰勝了經驗。

Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence. Second marriage is the triumph of hope over experience.

3、已婚男人的快樂來自那些他沒有娶的人。

The happiness of a married man depends on the people he has not married.

 

但是他嘲諷最多的，還是女人。

1、男人的臉是自傳，女人的臉是小說 (這句話應該是諷刺女人化妝吧)。

A man’s face is his autobiography. A woman’s face is her work of fiction.

2、不要給女人忠告；你不能給女人任何她晚上不能穿的東西。

Don't give a woman advice; one should never give a woman anything she can't wear in the evening.

3、女人是用來被愛的，不是用來理解的。

Women are meant to be loved, not to be understood.

4、如果一個女人不能把自己的錯誤變得迷人，那她就隻是一個雌性動物。

If a woman can't make her mistakes charming, she is only a female."

5、一個人決不應該相信說出自己真實年齡的女人。如果她把這都說出來了，那她什麽都會說。

One should never trust a woman who tells her real age. If she tells that, she'll tell anything.

6、三十五歲是一個非常有吸引力的年齡；倫敦社交圈內滿是這樣好多年一直保持三十五歲的女人，她們可以自由地挑來選去。

Thirty five is a very attractive age; London society is full of women who have of their own free choice remained thirty-five for years.

他看透了人性。

1、擺脫誘惑的唯一方法就是服從它。除了誘惑，我可以抵抗任何東西。

The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it. I can resist anything but temptation.

2、敵人造成的困難很容易忍受，朋友取得的成功卻讓人很難忍受。

It is very easy to endure the difficulties of one's enemies. It is the successes of one's friends that are hard to bear.

3、世界上隻有一件事比被人議論更糟糕，那就是沒人議論你。

The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
