The Real Marseillais
An American tourist is walking at the port of Marseille. He sees a fisherman resting on his small fishing boat.
“I don’t understand you. You are resting in the place you have to work. You should work hard so you could buy a second boat.”
“Yes, and so what? What then?” the Marseillais answers.
“Then, with the money you have accumulated, you could buy a whole fleet of boats.”
“Ah yes? And what then?”
“Eh, after that you could rest.”
The Marseillais fisherman raises his half-closed eyelids, looks at the American and says:
“Oh, poor thing, and what do you think I am doing right now?”

一個美國旅遊者在馬賽港口上溜達。他看到一個漁夫正在他的漁船上歇著。
“我真不理解你。你在該工作的地方歇著。你應該努力幹活，那樣你就可以買第二艘漁船了。”
“你說得對，但是那又怎樣呢？買了又怎樣呢？”馬賽人回答。
“那樣，你可以聚斂財富，買一個船隊。”
“啊，對嗎？擁有了船隊有怎樣呢？”
“嗯，那時候你真可以歇著了。”
馬賽人張開他半閉的眼瞼，瞧著美國旅遊者，說道：
“哦，可憐的人兒，你覺得我現在在做著什麽呢？”
