My dear kind neighbors

Min left to Europe last Saturday afternoon for a 6-day business trip. Early Monday morning, a water pipe at the outside of our house started to “cry”, missing Min just as I was:-))). However, its “tears” busted out so strong and I didn’t know how to stop the leaking. I had to leave for work due to an important meeting scheduled at 9:30 AM. Soon after the meeting, I returned home and called our water company for help. Unfortunately, only the voice message asked me to leave my name, phone number, and a brief message. So, a representative from the water company would contact me within an hour.

While waiting, I went to my neighbor Rose’s house to ask for Rose’s advice how to turn off the water supply of my house. Just like me, Rose didn’t know where our house water controls are located. She called her husband John for help. John instructed us to find the water control box and asked Rose to get a special tool from his toolbox to grip the water control switcher and turn off the water. Unfortunately, neither Rose, nor I, could use the tool appropriately no matter how hard we tried. Rose’s pants and my dress were all wet by water. During the process, I suggested to Rose more than once to give up. But, she didn’t. I was deeply touched by her kindness to help me, especially under such hot and humid summer weather.

Finally, Rose took my suggestion to stop the trying after a few more failed attempts. Shortly after I got inside of my house, Rose came to tell me that her husband John was on the way back home to help us. Rose told me that John works at a company about 25 minutes away from our houses, which will be much faster than a representative from the water company (who even hadn’t contacted me yet). After hearing what Rose said, I gave her a bear hug and my eyes were filled with tears. Late on, after the water was turned off, John told me that he can work at home for the rest of afternoon. What a blessing to have such wonderful neighbors!

PS,  Min got back yesterday afternoon. He bought gifts from his trip for Rose and her family and for one of our friends who is ill. Surprisingly, he also bought this small gift (the special cat grass seed) for our Miss Mandu and Mr. Sherlock:-))).
