附記：
這是我在中學時候偷偷學唱的黃色歌曲之一。是一位同學從一本文革前出版的《外國名歌一百零一首》裏手抄以後在我們班級裏傳頌開來的。我們的一位語文老師有一次終於發現了我們這幫男生在傳抄這首和其他一些黃色歌曲（靡靡之音）。我記得最後她還是把我們的手抄本給繳去了—-當然啦，我們還是留有副本的。
來北美以後，每次聽到這首歌曲，便會回憶起當年的情景。嘴上唱著的是北美洲的紅河穀，心裏思念著的卻是上海的黃浦江。。。
我至今沒有搞懂為什麽我們把這首歌當作加拿大民歌。可是這紅河穀不是在美國麽？不是最近剛鬧水災麽？？

Red River Valley 在美明尼蘇達州的西界，直通向加拿大的Winnipeg湖.在十八世紀，加拿大人越過Red River 就進入荒蠻的西部。這首民歌就是表達那時的情感的。
