Richard的家鄉

Richart 是我兒子，他今年9歲了，是個小男人了，很有自己的思想了，這不,他也不問我們要聖誕節禮物，人家直接給聖誕老人寫了一封信：

Dear Santa,
What I want for Christmas is a new pet such as a new turtle (alive) without a tail and also a book about how to fold airplanes and also a hamster. But not chocolates this time, because I already have a whole bunch of chocolates, please bring me those stuffs.

I want the turtle as the size of my old turtle and the hamster as the same size as a normal hamster.

I want them real and alive, I want a fish bowl for the turtle and a hamster cage with a wheel for the hamster, please.

他要烏龜是因為他原有一小烏龜寵物，可惜上禮拜天氣驟冷，忘了拿進來給凍死了---------小夥子抽抽答答哭了好一陣子。

我和他爸看了信不能無動於衷---------他爸上網給找了一堆寵物店的電話，我覺得這是一極好的機會，可以教他搞市場調查，就叫他自己給寵物店打電話- --------問問烏龜的價格，找一最便宜的，他說打就打，打了一圈兒，發現最便宜的也得三十幾塊---------加稅得四十，我和他爸都覺得太貴- ---------因前幾天Richard的冰球教練讓給買一新頭盔---------從前我們用的都是舊的，新頭盔花了我們快五十塊錢-------- 說好了這就算聖誕節禮物了，現在又要寵物-------顯然超出了我們的預算。

正好前幾天他爸帶他上圖書館，正趕是人家登記圖書館音樂會節目，把他也加上了，於是昨天我一大早陪他去圖書館開音樂會--------我以為也就是哄哄小孩兒玩兒的--------誰知還挺正式的-------- --圖書館邊上有一小音樂廳，裏頭舞台，幕布，燈光一應俱全，而且不光小孩兒表演，還有好些大人，還有裁判。

Richard 表演唱歌，唱的是 This land is your land, 他往舞台上那麽一站--------昂首挺胸，唱起來中氣十足，表情自信又驕傲：

他的自信和驕傲打動了底下的觀眾----------全是白人，連個黑人都沒有，觀眾合著拍子拍手，我邊兒上的一個女的說:”This is your son? He is great!”----------- Richard 在十幾個節目中得了第一----------他為他自己贏得了榮譽，也為他自己贏得了聖誕節禮物。
