Menopause arrives, unexpected
As midnight at her first ball.

Surrounded by whirling young women
She hesitates on the dance floor;
A mature king offers his arm.

Sustained by an old-fashioned tune,
She waves off the coach, and they glide
Together in three-quarter time.
