I personally knew one Chinese ph.D. got rejected for job interview simply due to his poor table manner.

At least when your student is giving the presentation, that dress is not suitable.
Many Chinese made mistakes in dress appropriately for right events (conference, party, interview, etc), it is understandable for those students in USA in 1980s, but not acceptable today (30years later!).

克拉伊人民很厚道,每天都圍著大頭巾...能有人願意去隨時有炸彈的地方作學術交流...應該不那麽介意不圍頭巾的人的著裝吧...
再說這種芝麻事情指導老師怎麽開口呢,很傷小女生自尊的吧?
BTW,女生的頭發很飄逸,很自信...BTW,要是蓋茨幾天不洗澡不換衣服,應該是:純屬個人style...哈哈!

先謝報道,這樣的經曆太難得了,我們跟著嫂夫人長見識了。
真心附和 st-watcher 的意見, 那位隨訪女學生的衣著實在太不合適了,參觀遊玩不講究也就算了,可作報告穿的太隨便了,非常不專業。而且兩天穿一樣的衣服。下次請教授一定要對她有所提醒和要求才好。
