這是L寶去COSTA RICA後的一篇遊記, 替他記錄下來.

Rincon de la Vieja

This volcanic valley amazes me. The mud pots were one of the most spectacular sights I’ve ever seen. The boiling mud I saw seemed to jump up in huge bubbles. One of the most shocking things I’ve ever learned was that creatures could live in places that seemed to be lethal to any life. The mud pots are a good example of this. I couldn’t believe it when I saw green algae floating in the middle of one of the pots. I thought that the sheer temperature of the mud would kill anything inside it. To my amazement, these algae seemed to thrive. The cool, shady forest was another spectacular sight. I saw giant trees that were slowly being squeezed to death by an enormous hollow strangler fig. I learned many things about the forest, such as how rainforest trees are pollinated and how their seeds are dispersed. I was surprised by the ways that plants in the forest adapted to survive with. Epiphytes grow on the surfaces of large trees, thereby getting closer to the rays of the Sun. What had the most lasting effect on me, though, was the landscape. I had no idea that volcanoes could toss car-sized boulders down entire mountainsides. This experience finally taught me how powerful and magnificent the Earth really is.
