小天使 （610）- Are We Both Strange?

One of the 兒歌 (children's song) Olivia has learned which will be on her Chinese Final next week is about Kangaroo, it goes like this "有個媽媽好奇怪, 胸前有個布口袋. 不放水果不放菜, 娃娃爬進袋裏來(There is a mom who is very strange; she has a bag in front of her chest. Instead of holding fruit or vegetables, the bag holds the baby who crawls inside)."

Yesterday at the Chinese class, after reviewed all the words and seven 兒歌 she taught this semester, the teacher started to teach a new 兒歌 which had a sentence "小山羊和小雞做朋友" (the little goat made friend with the little chicken). She then asked the kids to replace the little goat with "me" and the little chicken with the name of the friend who sat to their right and say it loud to the entire class.

I happened to sit on the right side of Olivia, so we practiced the sentence "我和媽媽做朋友" (I made friend with mom) a couple of times. But when it was Olivia's turn, she was so nervous that what came out of her mouth was:

"我和媽媽好奇怪" (My mom and I are very strange…)

I just could not help but burst into laughter.
