Yesterday, Olivia told me that she, Daniela and Emily are the coolest girls in her class.
"Why do you think you guys are the coolest girls in the class?" I was very curious.
"I don't know, I guess we are always in fashion."
In fashion? I admit that I enjoy getting beautiful clothes for my kids, but practicability is still the main theme when I shop for them and I really don't dress her in the morning with the word "fashion" in my mind.
This morning, she came downstairs wearing a brown hooded sweater Granna got her with the hood pulled over her head. She stroke through her long hair with her hands and made sure a couple of strands of hair are sticking out of the hood on each side of her face. Then she said to me:
"Mom, you don't have to put my hair up today."
"Why?" I asked on purpose.
"Because when you wear a hooded sweater, you are supposed to let your hair down like this. This is fashion. It's cool. "
I laughed to myself as she was really cute when she said that. But I do wish someday my daughter will understand that being in fashion doesn't necessarily make someone cool.
