Race Car Project
Evan and Olivia had been anticipating the Lowe’s craftsman workshop for sometime, ever since they heard that they would be building a race car. The big day finally arrived this past weekend after their morning swimming lessons.
The two put on their gear (a child-size safety goggle and a cute little Lowe’s apron) and started building their cars very enthusiastically along with about 20 other kids.
The project was actually very easy this time. You pre-hammer in 8 nailsinto the car base and then put the base and body together and hammer the nails entirely into the body of the car. You put the axles through the two spaces in between the base and body and nail in the four wheels. After that, you nail in two tail pipes, and voila, you’ve got arace car! The kit also had stickers for the roof, doors, wheels, hood,light and license plate which both Olivia and Evan placed on their creation.
Olivia pretty much did everything byherself with only a little help from Daddy to hold the nails straight but I had to help Evan quite a bit as I still wanted to keep all my fingers on my hand:).
On the way home, the kids had an idea of painting their car as their favorite characters in themovie “Cars”. Evan wanted “Lighting McQueen” and Olivia wanted “Sally”,the “girl” car.
So we dropped by Wal-Mart and picked up the paint. Olivia painted her race car blue and even added two beautiful eyes like the ones for Sally. I helped Evan and paintedhis car red like Lighting McQueen.
Next month’s project is to build a sailboat.
