Dying from Cancer

My mother- in- law is dying. She is hospitalized and waiting for the final moment to come. Before she went to the hospital, she told my brother- in- law not to let my husband know about her condition because she did not want my husband to worry. She is in a lot of pain, sometimes so excruciating that she cries and screams, but she still has the strength to care about her sons. She will never cease to love her children, even after her heart stops. Last night, at the dinner table, I came to tears for that woman. That woman raised my husband. That woman also raised one of my sons for the first years of his life. That woman is dying. She is dying in a hospital faraway from where I am, faraway from where her grandchildren are. My husband is flying to see her for the last time. My children will only be able to visit her after she goes to heaven. I just wish that she won’t suffer much and her journey to the afterlife is smooth.

Everything comes back to life in spring. My mother-in-law will have her immortality in her children and in her children’s children. She has empowered all of us through her dedication, her sacrifice, and her love.
