我4年前systemically reviewed about 2 thousand peer-reviewed articles regarding impact of Omega-3 fatty acids on lowering cholesterol level. It's clear at the dose of EPA (one of the active ingredients in fish oil) no less than 1,700 mg per day lowers cholesterol level significantly.
In general, one research article is not enough to conclude any significant effects, particularly those not well designed.
