1. clock in 打卡

Don't forget to clock in, otherwise you won't get paid. 
別忘了打卡,否則領不到錢。

2. come on to 對…輕薄;吃豆腐
Tanya slapped Bill after he came on to her.
Tanya 在 Bill 對她輕薄之後打了他一巴掌。

3. come easily 易如反掌
Languages come easily to some people.
語言學習對有些人來說易如反掌。

4. don't have a cow 別大驚小怪
Don't have a cow! I'll pay for the damages.

5. push around 欺騙 Don't try to push me around!

19. spill the beans 泄漏秘密
Don't spill the beans. It's supposed to be a secret.
別說漏了嘴,這可是個秘密哦!

20. stick in the mud 保守的人 Cathy is such a stick in the mud. She never wants to try anything new.

39. a bad hair day 不順利的一天
A: What's the matter Sam? You look upset.

B: Oh, it's nothing. I'm just having a bad hair day -- everything's going wrong.
哦,沒什麽。我隻是今天不順利,所有事情都出錯了。
除此之外,如果為了表達詼諧的語氣,a bad hair day 的主語還可以是物。
My computer is having a bad hair day.
我的電腦今天罷工了。

40. pull someone's leg 開某人的玩笑
A: I met David Beckham in a pub last night and he bought me a drink.
我昨晚在酒吧遇見貝克漢姆了,他還請我喝了杯酒。
B: Are you pulling my leg?
你在開玩笑嗎?
I was just pulling Karl's leg when I said Marissa wanted to go out with him, but he believed me and he called her. And now they really are going out!

41. let the cat out of the bag 泄漏秘密
We planned to give her a surprise party, but he let the cat out of the bag.

這個短語的來源至少有兩種,其中之一是說,早在超市出現之前,人們通常在當地的市場買菜和家禽。在一些特殊的場合(如節日盛宴),乳豬是采購單上一樣很搶手的食物。由於乳豬會亂動,當顧客挑選好並結賬後,商人為了運送方便就把豬塞進一個帆布口袋(poke)裏遞給顧客。
然而,奸商有時會利用顧客一時走神,把流浪貓冒充乳豬放進袋子裏。直到顧客回家,“把貓從袋子裏拿出來”(let the cat out of the bag),才發現這個騙局。所以這個詞組意味著是一個意外的、但通常令人討厭的發現。據說這也是諺語“不要買裝在袋子裏的豬”(don't buy a pig in a poke)的由來,也就是“不要不看現貨就買東西”的意思。

42. white elephant 購買或保存起來十分昂貴卻無實際用處的東西
The fountain is a white elephant.
這個噴水池真是廢物。
The foreign aid to the country was believed to be nothing but a white elephant.
那個國家得到的外援不但無益反而成了沉重的負擔。
When he planned to sell his house, his expensive furniture became white elephants.
他想要賣房子的時候,他的昂貴的家具成了累贅。
※ Do you know?
a white elephant 這個短語是來源於印度,由於印度人是很崇拜大象的,對於大象尤其是白象視若神靈。印度規定,白象是不可以宰殺、幹活的,擁有白象的人家要好好地養著它,不可以虐待它,直到它死去。所以人們將白象視為一種累贅,這也就是 white elephant 的由來。
由於 white elephant 有上述的意思,因而出現了 a white elephant sale(白象義賣)。不過這種以慈善為目的的義賣,所賣的不是白象,而是有心人士所捐出的家裏不再需要之物品。
 

43. get out of bed on the wrong side 心情不佳
The Prime Minister must have got out of bed on the wrong side this morning.
首相今天心情欠佳。
He must have got out of bed on the wrong side today, because he has shouted at everybody in the office.
今天他準是情緒不佳,辦公室裏的每一個人他都訓斥了。
The man went to bed very late and got up on the wrong side of the bed.
這個人很晚才睡,所以醒來時情緒很差。
 

44. losing the plot 瘋了
I was waking up in the middle of the night, not knowing who I was or where I was. I really thought I was losing the plot.
我半夜醒來,發現我不知道我是誰,也不知道我在哪裏。我想我是真的瘋了。
She knows people think she's "losing the plot" following the breakdown of her marriage to Peter Andre.
她知道人們認為她在經曆同皮特的婚姻失敗後肯定會瘋的。
