I met a farmer in "Bass Pro Shop" yesterday. farmer told me he owns 300 acres of Almond land with some sheep and goat. he was looking for some bails for coyote hunting to protect his farm. farme asked me what brought me here. I told him this story (http://bbs.wenxuecity.com/tzlc/495116.html). farmer let out a yell and told me it's a ground squirrel! they are tough. even worse, they carry virus blah, blah… yeah, I recalled its tail is not curly like tree squirrels. I came home and googled it right away. This is what I found and would like to share with you.
No license is required if it is the owner or tenant who is taking ground squirrels that are causing damage. A trapping license from the California Department of Fish and Game is required for those who are trapping squirrels for hire or profit.
