to make it simple, a fried of mine, his house got flooded from inside by accident.  The insurance company had to tear it down completely and rebuild it almost from the ground up.  Only the foundation and the frames are not touched.  Took >6 months.  They also paid for my friend's family hotel and meals etc during the period.
