there is usually a spitgot at the bottom of the rain barrel, so you attach a hose to it. On the top of the barrel a overflow hose is also needed. My barrels were oringally used to store seasoned pickel by a pickel farmer. I bought the used ones from them.  You can google rain barrel on youtube.
