I used Garmin for many years and i loved the old garmin. the new garmin made me nut. I bought a new 5 inch garmin last christmas and just returned to the costco. Garmin has nice hardware and interface. However i really hate its new algorithm to calculate routes. For a 直角三角形 in many cases, if the 90 degree two sides are major roads, it goes with the 斜線 acrossing neighborhood with many turns in 'faster time' mode (including many left turns). I really want the easy one traveling 90 degree two sides with just one turn on major roads. The old garmin was perfect in this matter. I have no idea why Garmin goes so dummy nowdays.
i tried a magellan recently, it has good algorithm, however i dislike its interface and irresponsive touch screen.
what about Tomtom? does it have both good hardware and nice algorithms ?
