身體殘缺一部分，生命也完整一些

牙疼已經有一陣子了。三個禮拜前還發燒呢，以為是流感。一天就好了，牙疼也減輕了不少。可禮拜五感覺有點不對，一邊臉腫起來了，可老農民最不怕的就是疼了。怕耽誤了第二天送女兒，吃了幾片抗菌素，居然好了不少。知道還是牙齒出了問題。

今天吃完中午才給牙醫一個電話，說了大致情況，馬上就安排下午三點半去診所。兩點還在這裏發帖呢，想著沒什麽大事。俺老農民什麽事沒見過？再說，每次醫生都說俺除了gum decay多一些，從來就沒有cavity，連他都說驚奇的。

牙醫今天不忙，進了他的診所，兩分鍾就被叫進去了。牙醫邊看俺的X-光片，邊說Don't understand。畢竟俺上次洗牙才三個月不到，上次還說好好的呢。按牙醫的說法，俺最多是sensitivity會有問題，不至於感染呢。

助手安排好一切，牙醫拿起鐵鉤一看：Wow, now I know! Somehow this tooth splits into two halves! 給俺的選擇太簡單: I would like to save it if I could. There is no choice-- I have to remove it. Do you want to do it today or the other day?

俺隻問了一句：俺還能開車回家嗎？俺到家有二十分鍾的highway呢。助手說沒問題。俺說那就作吧。三針，等了十分鍾，就拔了。牙醫把兩半的牙齒給俺看，還說牙齒是比較大的一顆，準備大出血的，結果助手的水槍都沒有用上，塞塊紗布就完事了。

交了一百一十五快錢，回家等太太下班。太太一看：哈，到底是夫妻，咱倆一人少了一顆。太太那顆是來美國不久出的問題。那時她還有一個選擇，crown。但太太為了省錢，一個crown八百，而拔一顆才8塊。同一個雇主，當時的保險是不交錢的，今天的是每月交快20了，花費卻多了十倍。哎，難怪美國的醫療體係要改革。

還好，沒怎麽疼，俺已經能吃飯了。就是覺得身體殘缺了一部分，但生命也完整了一些。
