I have one case with a private electric public utility company.
usually by the meter, utility company has a little shut off switch inside a box, the switch can only turn on with a special tool, anyhow, the tenant move in, I shut off the power, didn't bother much after he move out a year later, then the utility company find out somebody hamper with the lock, and turn on power without paying for it...
so to prove I am not the one using the power, I have to send in a copy of lease, and any forwarding address for utility company to investigate, but at least I was not liable for the cost....
