If market repeats 96-2000, you are far behind the sp. What you and Monkeyboy are doing is finding a way to beat the market from 2000-201o, which is the past. The beauty of the investment is about future, which is unpredictable.
With the current market, a lot of uncertainty, I am doing timing--sell high, and buy back low with more shares. This is kind of like what you said, though I did not do DCA with certainly time frame. Instead, I am doing DCA with certainly price frame. However, I am worried. Nobody knows when the market starts a good run.
