You pick the period to do the comparison, which confirms your opinion. Everybody picks what is in favor of him to prove he is right. All performances depend on time. So if you just say somebody has better performance than others without saying which period you choose, you are wrong already.
BRKA has excellent performance up till 2008. It has mediocre performance since 2008. The future performance for the next 5 years is more correlated with the preformance for the past 5 years than the past 40 years.
Buffett does not care about money the most anymore. To him, he cares more about what people think about him after he dies. So he is always making speeches that the government wants to hear, which is obviously wrong some time.
