with farmland, either you need to toil the land under the scorching sun, or you have to hire others to do so. You need to attend to the land. You need seeds, fertilizers, water, etc.
with gold, after buying a piece, you leave it at the vaults, doing nothing yourself while gold does the necessary thing for you: preserving your wealth, for generations.
Now try to leave your farm, or your oil fields, or you factories, unattended for say, 6 months, and see what happens: you are ruined.
Gold, after securing your ownership, you no longer need to do anything for it. Gold does things for you.
All the Buffet preferred assets, after securing ownership, you need to continue to pour in capital, sweat, etc, and you are still not sure if all the hard work/effort will pay off. Your employees may steal from you, locusts may devour your crops, etc.
Gold treats you way better. It is like a life long silent loyal house wife.
in contrast, WB's assets are like *****es. You make you utmost effort to please her, and you still don't know if she really likes you, or reward you back with same affections.
