I ran into a friend today, so I ask how his mother is doing at age 91.....his dad was perfect health at 88, then suddenly pass away 2 years ago; his mom sick all her life, been in the nursing home since his dad die.
We spoke near an hour, he is so happy Medicaid finally kick in for nursing home expense this past month, they been paying 5000 month for a full service semi private room, plus medicines and physical therapy, which amount to 8-10k a month out of their own pocket.
they are from a somewhat upper middle class family, any way, he is so glad they transferred most of their parents assets about 7 years ago, but regret didn't buy in the nursing home insurance while they can...
the conclusion of this story is, landlord is a sucky business, screw that, we need to be in nursing home, 100k per bed per year....wow...
