Hi, everyone,
Sorry I cannot type this in Chinese. This is my first post.
I have a question where you plan to retire, Florida, California or Las Vegas? Some of people will like to retire in China, which is not a bad idea, but many people who have lived in this country so long cannot live in China for a long period of time. We live in Northeastern, cold and expensive, where is not an ideal place for retirement. I like to have a discussion regarding this issue. Of course most people still have to work for more than 10-15 years, but you should plan now.
It seems that housing market in many places of this country has been down a lot. House price in Orlando area is less than half of its peak time. You can buy a 4b/2.5bath house for $100-150K. I do not know anything about California and Las Vegas, but heard housing price in California has been down a lot too. A house in Bay area (further inland, south of Stockton, such as Tracy) can be sold for $150-250k. The friend of mine told me someone bought a 2-story house in Las Vegas for $70k.
I sincerely hope someone with knowledge can shed light on this issue. I understand where to retire is complicated, good weather, low tax, healthcare, low crime, community (Chinese community), activities, transportation, and so on. A few days ago there was an article in Yahoo which mentioned a college town is a good choice for retirement.
