mainly because I switched the balance fund (major holding at the time) to S&P index fund completely near the market bottom in 2009. Never touched it since then.
Otherwise, for these years, I probably baiscally just break even with initial deposit.
Our 429 plan only allows changing investment allocation once per year (technically you can work around that though.) , and you can only pick from a very short list of funds.
For tax advantage - it's only good for the capital gain part. I think there are better way to grow money.
