as to whether turn a doorknob count as illegal entry or not...
to reaffirm my understanding, I decide to call my detective friend, which he is the head of local sheriff department.
here is what he said, as a landlord, you can visit your property at any reasonable time, you can knock the door, turn the doorknob, even go as far as opening the door and ask if anyone inside, as long as none of your body part across that threshold on that door, there is nothing a cop can do to you.
and if you believe there is an emergency situation, (only need to believe), you can knock and go right in. of course if you abuse the situation, tenant can come back on you.
