稅率上終於贏了Romney一把

美國的總統選舉正如火如荼，共和黨內的競爭者挖隱私，比口才，難解難分。最讓俺津津樂道的是終於把Romney這樣的top 0.01%的大財主給挖了出來--他才交14%的effective tax rate呢。好，咱中產能不能比他的稅率少一點？

 

今年的交稅日子又來了，到上周末終於收集全了所有的表格。周日等橄欖球超級杯賽的時候，拿出筆紙計算機，一項一項的計算開了。不錯不錯，加上payroll tax, 俺去年終於打敗了Romney。不包括payroll tax 的effective tax rate如下：隻算AGI是2.1%；全工資計算是1.5%。Payroll Tax去年是10.4% （雇員的4.2%加上雇主的6.2% match）。所以，俺的effective tax rate去年終於少於Romney的14%了。

 

去年的稅率再次得益於幾項credit。女兒大學的最後一年俺拿到了2500塊的American Opportunity credit,兒子的child credit和從2441表上來的dependent care credit。沒有這些credit俺就要比Romney高幾個百分點了。

 

展望明年，女兒大學畢業，兒子滿十三，上麵的三項credit就少了兩項，外加女兒要找到工作，俺還要少一個人頭deduction， 在effective tax rate上明年要打敗Romney就有難度了。更不要說美國政府在三月之後是不是還會保持目前的payroll tax rate。自己看了一下數字，今年年初也作了一些調整，除非啟動457退休計劃，不然是不可能的任務。和太太商量了一下，還是決定今年給美國政府多作點貢獻：放棄啟動457計劃。看來，去年打敗Romney的記錄隻能是曇花一現了。
