There is no upper age limit for blood donation in most U.S. states and blood centers. As long as your friend:

  • Is in good overall health

  • Meets hemoglobin/weight requirements

  • Passes the standard donor screening

…he can donate even at age 70, 80, or beyond.

Many organizations — including the American Red Cross, Vitalant, and others — explicitly state that healthy older adults can donate without a maximum age restriction.
