This total is your "combined income." If your combined income is more than $34,000 for singles or $44,000 for couples, up to 85% of your Social Security income may be taxed. 

你可以去精萛 Combined Income. 相信這兒的人極少能做到少於 44000 for couple 一年的.  不要忘記 no taxable interest and HALF of your SS benefit must add back to the AGI for the calculation of threshold amount.

即使不工作 你的AGI 除了401 k 和 IRA distribution, 還有 investment income from investment 然後再要加回 nontaxable interest and half of your SS to reach the final amount used as base to determine whether your SS is taxable up to 85%.

To calculate your taxable Social Security benefit, first determine your adjusted gross income (AGI), which is your total taxable income. This might include money you make from:
