The Government
When I was young and strong, I worked and paid my dues. I never thought that one day, I'd need the government's help.
But now that I am old, And my body is frail, I am grateful for the programs, That the government provides.
Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, These programs have given me peace of mind, Knowing that I will not be alone.
If I had to rely on my family, I don't know what I would do. My children are all grown up, And they have their own lives to live.
My spouse may be gone, Or we may have grown apart. I can't count on them to take care of me, For the rest of my days.
But I can count on the government, To be there for me when I need it most. They will provide for me, And they will make sure that I am safe and sound.
I am grateful for the government, For their policies that protect me. I know that I am not alone, And that I will be taken care of.
Thank you, government, For all that you do.
