Later I found out that many black people admire Bruce Lee, I think this is because Lee's image speaks a certain spirit of independence, courage and universalism.
But individuals like Lee are extremely rare. What Chinese in northern America can do is to identify with the better part in humanity. Sometimes, even bad people have a better side in them. To identify with the better in humanity means to work along with it, be it found in good people or bad people, to make it a channel through which your effort for the good becomes effective over time.
This requires leadership. Blacks don't have someone like Dr. King either since his assassination, but they always have good leaderships. This is what Chinese/Asians are lacking. There are some leaderships for Asian/Chinese, but far from sufficient. In my observation, Chinese leaderships in US tend to be local and naturally small. They scatter around without forming a one that could more or less operate in a national level.
