Who lit the furnace of the mammoth’s heart?

上麵的詩是引用“大地讚歌”一頌詩中的最後幾句詩,這首詩是僅次於湯普森取得最高成就的一首詩------ “天堂的獵犬”,考文垂•帕特摩爾宣稱這首詩是“極少數”的一首偉大的在詩歌語言上值得誇耀的頌詩“,”和本世紀任何宗教詩相比,它已經引起更多的讀者的關注。在某個神秘的派係中,人們信奉”追求上帝就是被上帝所追求,”的信念,這首頌詩隨威嚴巴赫合唱團從容不迫的演唱而徐徐地展示開來,詩人采用賦格曲調把詩句創作成非世俗化的詩體係風格。用一種幾乎神聖的過度放縱來慶祝認可神聖秩序的建立。湯普森的一切詩,猶如他的明亮輝煌的金鏈花,分裂成了“一隻在野火中飛舞的蜜蜂。”
