"Drinking Alone under the Moon,"
by Li Bai
Among the flowers a jar of wine to be,
Drinking by myself and no one close to me.
I raise up my cup to invite the bright moon,
Facing my shadow and we have made three.
Yet the moon does not understand drinking,
And my shadow follows my body in vain.
But temporarily I make moon and shadow my companions,
Must enjoy the pleasures till next spring.
I sing and the moon is wandering around,
I dance and my shadow scatters on the ground
When I'm awake together we make pleasures,
After getting drunk, we depart no more to be found.
Making a forever oath to a journey of not a broken heart,
Expecting to see each other in the Milky Way apart.
