my friend, who wrote the fund-raising note, teaches theater studies at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  Her name is Zhuang Jiayun. Your donation would go to her account, but would be earmarked for the kitty's surgery.  My friend is a cat owner and a cat lover, and she'll cover the expense if necessary. But I thought it would be great to show our support for the grad student, since we know that students, who barely have enough stipend for themselves, are more likely to abandon their animals when difficulties crop up.  This student's committment to his cat's well-being, I think, is moving and worthy of our support.  Thanks!
