A Long Poem of Han Dynasty
by Anonymous
The sunflowers in the verdant garden,
Dawn dews on them wait for the sun to be dry.
Warm Spring spreads its favor and kindness;
All the things reflect luminousness.
I always fear the advent of autumn;
Lustrous yellow flowers and leaves will soon wither.
Hundreds of streams flow eastward to the sea,
When can they return to the west?
If one doesn't work hard when young,
He'll regret in vain when old.
