I think they are more acceptable than "Catcher," though most of the stories are pretty sad. I am not sure whether it is a book proper for your daughter, depending on her age. Most of my students started reading it in the 9th grade, a turning point in their life. I do find the language a little coarse, but it doesn't prevent me from enjoying the book.
