sweetie, my English is average (please do not take this as condesending). I studied English for 2.5 years before going to college. I think in the first year (or first half year) we studied some simple English. In the remaning years we used 高中代用教材 （2 books). We finished 1 and a half books.
In college we used 上海交大的統編教材（4本，黃皮的，有什麽'mary is wrong again'). We finished the first 3 books. I wished we had finished the 2 books in 中學 and all the 4 books in college.
