今晚沒搞到幾盒糖

last year i changed to a vampire
stood until dark in a street
saw homes lighten up
and knocked at doors for trick or treat

this year, i wanted to do the same
i again stood in snow and hails
but half the homes had no lights
i came home with empty pails

is next year more bleak?
do you think i'll still find no work?
what if, what if nothing is there
thinking of it makes me berserk

my life is written in my barren verse
my barren verse replaces no empty purse
